MANILA, Philippines – Five people were killed and 13 others were wounded when a passenger van and a dump truck collided in General Santos City.

Albaracin said, “Parang di pa ako makapagsalita. Litong-lito pa ako”.

Meanwhile, Romnick Aquino was thankful that he and his 4-month-old child survived the accident. Aquino also thanked those who helped rush them to the hospital.

Aside from Aquino’s child, a 20-day-old infant was among those who survived the accident.

Dump truck driver Noel Donaire is now behind bars and is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

Donaire said he was traveling along Barangay Ligaya when he immediately stepped on the brake after learning too late that a bicycle was in front of his truck.

The truck allegedly wiggled and collided into an oncoming van. The van’s side door and roof were damaged by the impact of the accident.

Most of those injured are being treated for head injuries in a hospital.

Scooter-Riding Dog Becomes Internet Sensation

Norman, a 20-months-old Briard, has become quite the online star, after his owners posted videos of him riding a scooter.

The incredible canine who lives with the Cobb family, in Canton, Georgia, started playing with a razor scooter in the backyard, when he was a pup. Karen Cobb says they saw him playing around with it and decided to give him a ride on it. He seemed to like it, so they tried to teach him to push it on his own. Now, Norman loves riding his favorite toy as often as he can.

Norman is a very clever dog; he got his Companion Dog Title when he was just 15 months old, and is a regular at canine obedience competitions. In fact, the French Briard breed is known for talents like search and rescue, police work, guarding and herding. Throughout history, they’ve been loyal companions to important figures like Napoleon Bonaparte or Thomas Jefferson.

After the Cobbs posted videos of him riding around on a scooter, Norman quickly became an Internet sensation and is now one of the most popular friends on Facebook and has made an appearance on Stupid Pet Tricks on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Paradise in a hangar

Who says you have to go to the tropics to enjoy a tropical vacation?

Open since 2004, Tropical Islands is an indoor resort, built inside a large aircraft hangar, an hour’s drive from Berlin. It’s a man-made micro-ecosystem complete with hundreds of species of plants, sandy beaches, crystal-clear waterfalls and even bird and insect sounds made by speakers disguised as boulders. It spreads over 5 million cubic meters and it is taller than the Statue of Liberty; when the sun shines outside, visitors can actually get a tan, thanks to the effect of the sunbeams penetrating the hangar’s transparent roof, even if the weather is freezing outside.

Malaysian entrepreneur Colin Au says: “My resort means they hardly have to leave home, yet when they’re here it’s like being on a tropical cruise.”
